What Do We DO Here?
Mostly, we are in Silence, are working, or are being joyful
The first year we were open to the public, in 2004, I planned a full schedule of events, most weekends and holidays, all the equinoxes and solstices, and designed some remarkable workshops.
No one came.
What I learned was that the local people were open to our presence but either intimidated by, frightened of, or just not interested in what we offered. I had to expand our range, so we networked and began developing websites and print marketing materials. Voila', people began to come!
But few were interested in taking workshops once they arrived, they just seemed to 'spread out' emotionally, to expand into the vastness of open land and space that characterizes our land, and they took walks, contemplated and wrote in journals, and just never seemed to want a structured learning experience while here. So I could stop planning and organizing now, right?
So since then, we have taken a different approach to our mission. Now we accept completely that those who come here enter a different reality, one that we live so close to that we forget that it is not 'normal' but indeed a rarefied spiritual atmosphere. And we let guests do what they want, and just offer projects and simple tasks, ways they can participate in our daily lives, and that's enough.
We drum around the evening campfire [and you can make a drum here, if you'd like!], or watch & discuss some film over dinner, or let it be sufficient that we worked together in the garden or on the land during the day, and nights are in solitude and quiet. It's a special environment, you just have to come to see how it feels to you.
So bring your drawing materials, or paint kit, your knitting or crocheting, a journal (we recommend this!) and your walking shoes. Imagine dropping all your normal routines except basic hygiene, and getting a new look at and feel for who and what you are at this point in your life.
I think you'll find that insights come more clearly while you are here, and that spirit guidance comes for making decisions about what you will do and act on after you leave. Let the cosmic dance play itself out, and discern your part in the greater whole - and we'll be delighted to dance with you, to sing and make a joyful noise with you, and to celebrate your renewal as you find your true self right inside, where you've always been! namaste, friend...
